Gutenmorgen! Greens, Cafe, & Plants...What More Do You Need?

The Greens Coffee & Plants cafe is not just a simple cafe. It is an oasis of well-being in the middle of the city nearby the Alte Münze, an interactive museum that's also worth a visit. Coming here always makes you feel just a little closer to nature – with their indoor plants, urban gardening, as well as fresh seasonal and regional food. Go there on a weekend morning to enjoy a ritual cup of coffee or come by during the week to get some work done on the computer. The atmosphere really allows you to think clearly and focus on your tasks. Even if that means simply enjoying one of their amazing fruit smoothies and taking in the sun. When you visit this cafe, you'll notice right away that sustainability came first in the interior design: there's a restored espresso machine, wall paneling from Berlin households, historic kitchen utensils from the 50s and various decorative accessories from Berlin flea markets.Surrounding the cafe is the inspiring community of the Alte Münze, Berlin's former State Mint, built in the 1930s, now operating as a venue for meetings & events. The cafe is surrounded by a community garden, and a large mural by the local collective Drink & Draw. There are also various artist & manufactory workshops, even evening yoga classes that are open to the public.

  • Fun fact / Local tip
In the warmer months I love the seating options outdoors. There is a covered front porch area with antique chairs, surrounded by plants. There is also a large wooden seating are that is the perfect sunny spot and great for large groups. There is also seating above the kitchen/bar that is sometimes available. It is the perfect treehouse perspective up there. Try to snag it if you can!If you have time, you can also explore the adjacent Alte Münze museum. The building is huge, with various artist studios and reception halls worth perusing. The interior design is both artsy and simple, and a bit hipster in some areas - giving it that true Berlin feel. The space hosts all types of events and crowds: check their calendar for are any exhibits or parties.Their menu is great! The cafe chooses to adapt to the seasons. From April to September they provide service within the Stadtgarten- a small urban garden. In the cold season, you can sit in the cozy winter cafe, as well as during the autumn and winter months. They try to use local organic products, including harvested veggies and herbs from their own garden, depending on availability. In addition to the fresh and deliberately selected menu items, there are also a selected range of green houseplants for sale. Buy a coffee and a cactus for just 5 Euro!Check our list of go-to menu items: Proviant Organic Smoothie (Mango-Mararcuja, Kreuzbeere) Delicious Latte with Hafer (oat) Milk Homemade power balls and banana bread Daily Lunch Specials

Bike Tour: Poor But Sexy

Unlike other bike tours that show the typical "must-see" sights like museums and other common tourist activities, this almost 3-hour tour digs deep into two historic neighbourhoods of Berlin: Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. This tour is for those who want to take a ride on the wild side! The tour guides are run by qualified locals who are as unique as this very city.Kreuzburg is Berlin's melting pot. Punks, bohemians, queer and counter-culture enthusiasts have called its artfully decaying buildings home for generations. As a neighbourhood founded on anti-establishment values, Kreuzberg refuses to lose its rebellious nature: graffiti covers everything, shawarma stands serve late-night revelers, and alleyways are often mistaken as bathrooms. Kreuzberg's array of cafes, vintage shops, and music venues wake up this brazen neighbourhood early and keep it up late. The beautiful river or 'Spree' as the residents call it, connects the party and tech hubs found in Friedrichshain to the residents of Kreuzberg. This bike tour guides you along the river, with opportunities to check out one of our favourite destinations in the city- the East Side Gallery. At this outdoor museum, parts of the Berlin Wall have been covered in art from all over the world. The tour also will take you to you the Treehouse On The Wall, Project Mediaspree along the river, The world's first Carloft, and even Germany's biggest open-air-weed-supermarket.

The nearest and most convenient mode of transportation is to either walk from Alexanderplatz which will take about 10 minutes or there is the M48 bus that leads you directly to Nikolaiviertal. The bike shop itself is hidden in the courtyard of the houses there. The gate to get inside is next to the Kügelei cafe. There are many signs leading you there for Bike Tours and you can't miss it once you have entered the gate.

  • Fun fact / Local tip
Biking is one of our favorite ways to see the city, and luckily Berlin's bike-friendly streets make it easy to get around. Biking around to your destination as opposed to taking the train or bus lets you feel the fresh air, plus you can take in all the visual stimuli that you simply do not get on an underground train. The bike shop Free Berlin-Bike Rentals and Tours is found in the oldest and one of the most quaint neighborhoods in Berlin, Mitte. Nikolaiviertel is home to many restaurants, shops, the oldest church in Berlin, as well as an art gallery and museum. It is like taking a step back in time: the streets are cobbled, you'll see an old fashioned water pump, live musicians in the square, and architecture to reflect the historical style of the city. It's a perfect place to explore after returning your bike from this awesome bike tour.

A Night Out At Golden Gate

We know: Berlin is FULL of destinations to get your party on. Unfortunately the things that come along with the excitement of the city are long lines, pushy bouncers, and finding yourself in places where the crowd is entirely foreigners, with zero local swag. Fear no more! Golden Gate is one of our favourite after party destinations, when the crowds at other spots are too much to handle.Nestled beneath the Jannowitzbrücke train stop, Golden Gate is known as one of Berlin's grittiest clubs. The interior is small, dark and mostly free of decoration. It's known for having exceptionally long operating hours, even for Berlin. There's one party on Thursday night that finishes on Friday afternoon, then a second one that starts on Friday at midnight and lasts until Monday morning. The club consists of one main dance floor, a small sitting area, a bathroom section upstairs and a small garden in the summer. The music is mostly up-front tech house, usually by Berlin-based DJs.The people who come here, know where it's at. Inconspicuous as it is under a train line, don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. There is a great party gong on inside. It just feels local. The DJ's are usually local producers as well as the crowd who follows them closely. While the dance floor is small, it is impressive: flashing lights and bright colors make every night here feel surreal.

This venue isn't the poshest of places so there is no strict dress code and most aren't turned away. It has a dive bar feel with club level sound system. Be sure to check out Resident Advisor for upcoming concerts there before you go.

    Ngon

Ngon Restaurant is a hidden gem at the edge of Nikolaiviertal in Berlin. Amazing Asian Cuisine including Thai and Vietnamese dishes at reasonable prices. Not usually crowded, with booth seatings that offer stellar views of the radio tower, as the restaurant is located on the third floor.
